Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO seeks Nurse Technician/Patient Care Associate candidates for the Clinical Decision Unit. The role works under RN/LPN supervision, performs clinical procedures and non-clinical tasks, and participates in a team to enhance patient wellness.

Positions may start as PCA with Mercy-provided 175-hour training, targeting Missouri DHSS requirements; BLS within 1 month, PCT competencies within 3 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA/CPCT or enrollment in healthcare career program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training within one month of hire is required.

Responsabilités

• Assist in individualized patient care under the direction of RN or LPN.
• Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care.
• Collaborate with the CDU team to support patient flow and safety.

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Position Details:

• Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO
• Department: Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)
• Status: Full-Time, 36 hours/week
• Shift: 12 Hour Nights (6:30p - 7:00a)

This job profile/title may be updated along UAP Career ladder to offer candidate most appropriate role per their individual experience level if additional qualifications are met. UAP Career Ladder positions include Patient Care Associate-PCA, Patient Care Technician-PCT, and Nurse Technician-NT

Qualifications:

• Experience: None required. If no previous experience, will be considered for PCA role in which Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.
• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or previous patient care experience (i.e. PCA, CNA, or active nursing student).
• Required Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., CNA/CPCT or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum or age 18 and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month of hire, completion of PCT competencies within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) in the state of practice, Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).
• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
