Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for a full-time, 36-hour-per-week role on 12-hour day shifts.

Under supervision, the PCT assists in individualized patient care, performs designated clinical procedures, and supports the care team. Mercy offers robust benefits and training through its UAP program for successful candidates.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; Mercy provides 175-hour training within 90 days of hire as part of the PCA/PCT pathway.
• Preferred experience: EMT, Paramedic, or prior patient care (PCA/CNA) experience.
• Education: HS diploma/GED, CNA/CPCT or enrollment in a healthcare career program; age 18+ and eligible for Mercy UAP training.
• Certifications: BLS within one month of hire; PCT competencies within 3 months of hire.
• Other: Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing and walking.

Position Details:

Patient Care Technician-PCT*

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)

Status: Full-Time, 36 hours/week

Shift: 12 Hour Days (6:30a - 7:00p)

Will consider candidate experience once in offer stage. This job profile/title may be updated along UAP Career ladder to offer candidate most appropriate role per their individual experience level if additional qualifications are met. UAP Career Ladder positions include Patient Care Associate-PCA, Patient Care Technician-PCT, and Nurse Technician-NT

Qualifications:

• Experience: None required. If no previous experience, will be considered for PCA role in which Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.
• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or previous patient care experience (i.e. PCA, CNA, or active nursing student).
• Required Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., CNA/CPCT or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum or age 18 and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month of hire, completion of PCT competencies within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) in the state of practice, Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).
• Other:Minimum Physical Requirements:
  • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
