Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan’s Cardiovascular Unit seeks a dedicated patient care assistant to support RN-supervised clinical tasks and maintain a patient-centered environment.

You will perform daily activities, assist with hygiene, mobility and comfort, ensure HIPAA/OSHA compliance, and help uphold safety and infection-control standards in a busy hospital setting.

Full-time daytime schedule; prior clinical rotation and BLS within 30 days preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire (AHA/ARC/Canadian equivalent).
• Preferred: Prior direct care experience.
• Preferred: CENA training.
• Preferred: nursing clinical rotation experience relevant to the work area.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for daily activities and personal hygiene (bathing, feeding, dressing, mobility).
• Ensures compliance with health care regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean environment; adheres to infection-control policies.

Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, contributes to the delivery of patient-centered care through: Performance of selected day-to-day patient care activities. Maintenance of an environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient well-being. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Interacts with patients considering their developmental, age-specific, and cultural spiritual preferences.

Responsibilities:

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent .
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. Certification must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent.

Preferred:

• Prior experience in direct care preferred.
• CENA training
• Prior experience obtained through clinical nursing rotation relevant to the specific work area.
