Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a compassionate Nursing Assistant to support direct patient care in a busy inpatient unit. You will assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, transport, and documentation in the EMR under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining patient safety, participating in rounding and quality initiatives, and collaborating with care teams to ensure smooth unit operations. Previous CNA training or enrollment in ASN/BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Limited or no experience: 2 weeks of training required.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred: Acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Preferred: Enrollment in ASN/BSN with at least one clinical rotation.
• CPR - American Heart Association.
• Act 34/Act 33/Act 73 background clearances and FBI fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as: ADLs, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meals, height/weight, glucose testing, bladder scanning, transport, and documentation in EMR.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives including bedside shift report, hourly rounds, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Documents vital signs, I&O, restraints, specimens and treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Performs unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
