Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Acute Rehab Unit at West Hospital. The role provides basic health care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including room sanitation, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with feeding and grooming.

Responsibilities include patient mobility, accurate documentation, and continuous collaboration with the care team to support patient well‑being. Epic EHR training is preferred to enhance clinical workflow and records management.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
• Must have completed one of the following nursing aide pathways: nursing aide training, STNA or CNA certification, or nurse aide clinical rotation/experience

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, hygiene and mobility support.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Records accurate, timely patient care documentation.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information at arrival and departure.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Mobilizes patients using safe transfer techniques and encourages independence.
