Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a patient care technician to collaborate with the health care team under RN supervision to deliver direct patient care across ED, ICU, OB, or Med Surg environments. The role includes clerical duties and requires written approval from the Nurse Manager/Director to apply.

The position emphasizes bedside care, safety, and timely communication with nurses; experience in fast-paced units is preferred and BLS certification is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Minimum of direct patient care experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; nursing school/clinical experience or NYS CNA preferred.
• BLS Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Document patient information in the chart and monitor vital signs per policy.
• Assist with hygiene, ambulation, and patient mobility; transport as needed.
• Perform post-op and safety procedures including dressing changes and oxygen/suction setup.
• Set up equipment, restock rooms, and coordinate with BioMed for repairs.
• Assist with specimen collection and phlebotomy (ED only); maintain logs.
• Observe and report changes to nurses; respond to emergencies.
• Coordinate with charge nurse and isolation precautions; discharge transport.
