Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare in Jackson, TN is seeking a Nursing Assistant (Unlicensed) under the supervision of the Director, Clinical Manager, and Charge Nurse to provide hygienic care and assist with age-specific patient needs.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with admissions, repositioning patients every two hours, feeding patients, documenting intake and output, and supporting transport and charting in the EMR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period.
• Experience preferred, but training may be provided on unit.

Responsibilities

• Answers call lights by carrying wireless phones or by the console.
• Obtains and records patient vital signs per unit specification.
• Assists with new admissions by taking vital signs, weighing patients, assisting with gowning, placing telemetry patches, leads and telemetry box on patients.
• Repositions patients every two hours to encourage turning or turning by patient.
• Ambulates patients in the hall as needed.
• Assists patients with meals by seating them and preparing eating area.
• Passes food trays and feeds patients who cannot feed themselves.
• Collects and records intake and output accurately.
• Assembles patient charts, records patient information on unit records and routes patient charges.
• Enters written orders into EMR, completes forms, schedules procedures, notifies licensed personnel.
• Assists with transporting patients.
• Keeps department tidy by stocking and cleaning rooms and equipment spaces.
• Assists with incentive spirometers.
• Documents baths, turns, intake/output, Foley care, and other patient care activities.
