Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support nursing staff in providing compassionate patient care. The role reports to the RN and involves monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, and maintaining a clean, safe unit environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Graduate of Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility and multi-tasking in stressful situations.
• Prioritizes unit work and communicates with staff.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and communicates information to staff/family/patient.
• Manages overall unit workflow with charge RN or manager as needed.
• Performs census tasks and daily admission/discharge checks as needed.
