Job summary

Trinity Health Livonia Campus is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Surgical Unit. Under RN supervision, you will provide direct patient care, assist with activities of daily living, and help maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Preferred minimum of one year of direct care experience (acute or long-term) or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ADLs as delegated by the RN.
• Demonstrate sterile or aseptic technique as appropriate.
• Maintain a clean, safe patient environment conducive to well-being.
• Record patient information accurately for documentation and billing.

Position Purpose

Under the direction of a registered nurse, the patient care technician is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Assists in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family well being including concepts of relationship based care.

Shifts Available: 7:00 am – 7:00 pm, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Status available: Full-time, Part-time, Contingent/PRN

Every Other Weekend and 3 Holidays per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED.

Experience

• Preferred minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) OR successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course OR Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do

Performs nursing care as delegated by the RN in an effort to identify/ attain treatment goals such as:

• Assistspatientin completing ADLs

• Demonst Prates sterile or aseptic technique as appropriate when performing delegated activities

• Assistsin establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family well being

• Records patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation and charging requirements

• Completes delegated unit specific activities
