Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System seeks a Patient Care Technician to support delivery of patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The role is within the Ultimate Float Team in a hospital setting.

Strongly preferred are CNA candidates with at least 3 years of CNA experience in an acute care environment. Required licensure varies (CNA/EMT/Paramedic) with certification and Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation when applicable.

Qualifications

• Requires Florida CNA, EMT or Paramedic licensure or national EMT licensure; active during employment.
• Nursing students eligible for CNA exam must be enrolled or a graduate of an accredited nursing program and meet specific progression requirements.
• Completion of Florida State Board-approved program and Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of patient care under RN/LPN supervision.
• Support patients in an acute care setting and assist with daily activities.

Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Required Qualifications

Require one of the following:

1. Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic, or a military Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic Specialist, or Aerospace Medical Service Specialist; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); which must be maintained active during employment; or
2. Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to: a.) currently be enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); b.) if enrolled, have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN; and c.) cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN; or
3. Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
