Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. You may float to all SMHCS hospital campuses, joining the Ultimate Float Team to assist nursing staff and patients.

Ideal candidates include those with CNA/EMT licensure, current nursing students eligible for CNA, or PCT/CNA certification with Florida licensure within 120 days of graduation. Background screening will be required.

Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse. May float to all Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) hospital Campuses.

Required Qualifications

• Require one of the following: 1.) Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramdic, or a military Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic Specialist, or Aerospace Medical Service Specialist; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); which must be maintained active during employment; or 2.) Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to: a.) currently be enrolled in an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); b.) have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN and c.) cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN; or 3.) Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
