Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System – Venice Campus is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our caring team. You will support delivery of patient care under supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in inpatient units.

Required qualifications include Florida CNA or EMT licensure, or enrollment in an accredited nursing program with CNA eligibility, plus BLS. We offer a robust benefits package and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Florida licensure as CNA or EMT, or national EMT licensure and active status.
• Nursing students eligible for CNA exam must be in accredited program and enrolled.
• Ability to obtain Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks to support patient care and basic nursing duties.
• Document responses and care provided in the patient chart.

Job Summary and Responsibilities:

The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse of Licensed Practical Nurse.

Required Qualifications:

  • **Employees hired without the above licensure and/or by years of experience only prior to 11/11/19, are grandfathered in and will have the option of obtaining the stipulated licensure.
• 1.) Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); Paramedic, or a military corpsman; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); which must be maintained active during employment; or
• 2.) Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to: a.) currently be enrolled in an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); b.) have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN; and c.) cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN
• 3.) Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
• Requires basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
• Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certified through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
