Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Patient Care Technician in the General Surgical department. The role involves performing tasks supportive to patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Required licensure options include Florida CNA/EMT/Paramedic or national EMT licensure; nursing students eligible for CNA exam may apply. A Florida CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of graduation. BLS/CPR is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must hold Florida CNA, EMT, or Paramedic license, or National EMT license, active during employment.
• Nursing students eligible for CNA must be enrolled or graduate from an accredited nursing program and meet CNA exam requirements.
• PCT/CNA certification: provide certification and obtain Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
• Employees hired without licensure prior to 11/11/19 are grandfathered and will have option to obtain the stipulated licensure.
• BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR certification required.

Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Required Qualifications

- Require one of the following:1.) Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic, or a military Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic Specialist, or Aerospace Medical Service Specialist; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); which must be maintained active during employment; or2.) Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to: a.) currently be enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); b.) if enrolled, have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN; and c.) cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN; or3.) Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
