Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health in New Haven, CT is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to support daily patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with activities of daily living, take vitals, and help with comfort measures.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy and EKGs as assigned, data collection, and collaborative PFCC with patients and families. A CNA or nursing program student entry is required, with in-service training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be a CNA or complete CNA certification prior to orientation.
• Currently enrolled in nursing program or completion of clinical rotation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily patient care activities including activities of daily living and comfort measures.
• Obtain weights, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure measurements, including orthostatic parameters as appropriate.
• Apply cold compresses and other non-sterile treatments as assigned.
• Perform phlebotomy and/or EKG procedures when area assignment allows.
• Demonstrate respectful communication and rapport with patients and families.
• Attend all mandatory in-services and participate in ongoing education related to the role.
• Be flexible with time to meet unit needs and support patient care services.
