Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide daily patient care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, data collection (weight, temperature, pulse, respiration, BP), and basic non-sterile treatments.

Preferred candidate has 1 year of patient care experience (EKG, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide, Nurse Technician) and current CNA certification or nursing program enrollment. On-site, full-time, hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; CNA certification before orientation or completed one nursing rotation and enrolled in a nursing program.
• One year patient care experience (EKG, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide, Nurse Technician) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduces daily patient care activities including activities of daily living and comfort measures.
• Obtains weights, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure measurements.
• Performs non-sterile treatments and applies cold compresses.
• Performs specimen collection and phlebotomy when assigned.
• Uses effective interpersonal skills in all interactions with patients and families.
• Attends mandatory inservices and participates in educational activities.
• Performs other responsibilities as requested by Patient Care Manager and adapts to unit needs.
