Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health in Connecticut is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse.

You will perform vital sign collection, assist with treatments, communicate with patients and families, and participate in ongoing competency training to ensure high-quality, compassionate care. The role emphasizes PFCC principles, teamwork, and the I Am YNHH service pledge.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and CNA or equivalent training.
• Two years of direct patient care experience or equivalent education; completion of competency trainings.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families; CPR required.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform tasks requiring endurance.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse, assists with patient care and records information to aid assessment.
• Obtains and records vital signs as delegated by the RN.
• Assists with treatments and activities contributing to safe, efficient patient care.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to address patient needs and consider cultural factors.
• Communicates with patients, families, and staff, and covers the Information Associate desk when needed.
• Maintains clinical competency and attends mandatory continuing education.
