Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shift Availability

Shifts available: 7am-7pm. Every other weekend and holiday per year required for full‑time and part‑time team members.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long‑term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What You Will Do

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patients in completing ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices, and feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT collects and sends specimens including blood and blood cultures, inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters, and records patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements.
• The 6N PCU Unit provides care to patients with complex medical comorbidities that require vigilant monitoring, thoughtful assessment, and timely clinical interventions to achieve their treatment goals.
• Pulmonary disease and sepsis are commonly seen along with complications from diabetes, cardiac disease, and diabetes. The 6N PCU is a 12‑bed unit. All rooms are private and offer cardiac monitoring capability.
