Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT), CNA or MA to join the 7 East Cardiac PCU. You will provide direct patient care, assist with ADLs, monitor cardiac patients, and support the RN team in a fast-paced unit.

Shifts include Day 6:30 am–3:00 pm and Night 10:30 pm–7:00 am, with every other weekend and holiday for full-time/part-time roles. Competitive benefits and daily pay available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. Previous direct care experience preferred (acute or long term) or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ADLs including bathing, dressing and feeding.
• Record patient information and required data for documentation.
• Support cardiac monitoring and care for older adolescent to older adult patients.
• Collect specimens and manage IV catheters as directed.
• Collaborate with RN team to ensure safe, compassionate patient care.

Position Purpose: The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available: Day / Night including every other weekend and holiday. Day Shift 6:30 am - 3:00 pm / Night Shift 10:30 pm - 7:00 am

Status Available: Full-time, Part-time Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSURE High school diploma or GED Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course. Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do: Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection. A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements. Provide services to older adolescent, adult, and older adult cardiac patients, acute and chronic Heart Failure patients, as well as medical surgical patients who require cardiac monitoring. Patients on the unit require close and frequent assessment and skillful and timely clinical interventions in order to achieve their treatment goals. 32-bed unit and the average patient age is 64.
