Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support direct patient care under RN supervision. The role covers ADL assistance, specimen collection, and IV management on a 12-bed PCU unit.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and either one year of direct care experience or completion of CENA/PCT/MA/EMT coursework. Student nurses completing BSN fundamentals are welcome.

Qualifications

• Direct care experience or completion of relevant patient-care programs.
• Must be able to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Student nurses must have completed nursing fundamentals in a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with bathing, grooming, feeding, and mobilization.
• Collect specimens (blood, blood cultures) and manage IV access.
• Accurately document patient information and care activities.
• Provide care to patients with complex medical needs on a 12-bed unit with monitoring.

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available: 7am-7pm Status Available: Part-time Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do

Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.

• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters.
• They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• The 6N PCU Unit provides care to patients with complex medical co morbidities that require vigilant monitoring, thoughtful assessment and timely clinical interventions to achieve their treatment goals.
• Pulmonary disease and sepsis are commonly seen along with complications from diabetes, cardiac disease, and diabetes.
• 6N PCU is a 12 bed unit. All rooms are private and offer cardiac monitoring capability.
