Lovelace Health System, Inc. in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a day-shift, full-time Rapid Admission Unit Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nursing staff and ensure smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, and handling basic transport and housekeeping tasks in a fast-paced unit.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• 2 years in acute or long-term care preferred.
• CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification preferred or currently enrolled in nursing school.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities and ADLs under supervision.
• Observe patients and relay reports to RN or medical staff.
• Record vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measure intake/output, assist with ROM, and venipuncture per unit routines.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

Responsibilities

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes patients' progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with range of motion, and draws blood.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

• High School or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• 2 years' experience in acute or long-term care.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification, which includes BLS, or currently enrolled in nursing school.
