Job summary

Lovelace Health System is hiring a Day shift, full-time Medical Surgical 2nd floor Patient Care Tech (PCT) in Albuquerque, NM. You will support patients with daily activities, monitor vitals, and assist with specimen collection under nursing supervision.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient care, teamwork with the medical staff, and adherence to hospital protocols. BLS is required within 14 days; phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; CNA/PCT certs preferred.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer.
• Phlebotomy experience or course completion is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities under supervision of nursing staff.
• Record vital signs and prepare reports for RNs and medical staff.
• Collect specimens for lab tests and transport them as needed.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Assist with intake/output measurements and range-of-motion activities.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

Responsibilities

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Additionally, this position measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with range of motion, and draws blood.

Qualifications

Job Requirements :

• High School or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• 2 years’ experience in acute or long-term care.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification, which includes BLS, or currently enrolled in nursing school.
