Job summary

Ardent Health Services in Tulsa, OK, is seeking a night-shift, full-time Intensive Care Unit Patient Care Technician (PCT). You will work closely with RNs to support critical patient care, perform vital signs, and respond to call lights, while helping with activities of daily living and a clean, safe patient environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire.
• Preferred CNA or PCT certification or nursing school enrollment.
• Two years of experience in acute or long-term care preferred.
• Phlebotomy proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care in partnership with the registered nurse.
• Monitor patients at scheduled intervals, document data per protocol, and report observations to the nurse.
• Record patients' vital signs accurately.
• Respond promptly to all call lights.
• Assist with mobility and basic tasks (ADLs).
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients and staff.
• Participate in hourly rounding and bedside shift reports as directed.
• Provide direct and indirect patient care duties as assigned and may assist unit clerical tasks.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• Work in partnership with the registered nurse to support patient care.
• Monitor patients at timed intervals, document data as directed, and report observations and patient concerns to the registered nurse.
• Obtain and record patients' vital signs accurately.
• Respond promptly to all call lights.
• Assist patients with mobility and basic tasks, such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients and staff.
• Participate in purposeful hourly rounding and bedside shift report as directed.
• Perform direct and indirect patient care duties as assigned and may provide clerical support to the assigned unit.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
