Job summary

Mercy Health in Cincinnati is seeking a Patient Care Technician who is a clinical nursing student to gain hands-on experience on the Med Surg unit at West Hospital. You will work under RN supervision to provide essential patient care and assist with basic clinical tasks.

Qualifications

• HS/GED is required.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program and has completed one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation are required.
• BLS (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Works with the RN to ensure quality patient care delivery.
• Seeks educational opportunities related to nursing practice and critical thinking.
• Provides basic patient care including vitals, hygiene, and mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes.
• Delivers high level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Participates in hand-off reporting of patient and department needs.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Participates in patient data collection and documentation (vital signs, intake/output, condition changes).
• Assists with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Uses clinical technology as applicable.
• Escalates concerns through the chain of command.
