Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids seeks a patient care technician to support a safe, patient-centered environment under licensed nursing supervision. Tasks include direct care, documentation, and effective communication with patients and families.

Ideal candidate will have CNA or Health Support Professional training, a high school diploma, and BLS certification, with readiness to perform in a fast-paced clinical setting in Cedar Rapids.

Qualifications

• Previous Patient Care Tech or CNA experience preferred
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse and Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required
• Employee must submit certification before start date

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate information during patient handoffs with patients, families, and staff
• Provide safe patient care under supervision of a licensed nurse and follow department directives
• Observe changes in patient condition and report to the licensed nurse promptly
• Demonstrate age-appropriate communication and address language/cultural barriers
• Maintain accurate real-time documentation of patient care
• Protect patient privacy and safety in all tasks
