Job summary

Qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, with CNA/Health Support Professional training preferred, and current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated at hand offs to patients, families, and co-workers.
• Provide safe and effective patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Observe and communicate any changes in patient condition to the licensed nurse.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate and culturally sensitive communication including non-verbal cues.
• Maintain real-time documentation of patient care.
• Protect patient privacy and confidentiality; respect patient rights.
• Respond within scope of practice to emergencies and life-threatening conditions.
• Organize and prioritize daily tasks considering patient and family needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and department work areas.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and practice changes with supervision.
• Prioritize tasks and adapt priorities as needed in collaboration with the supervisor.
• Follow Mercy safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
