Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Patient Care Tech to support nursing staff under an RN, performing basic patient care activities, monitoring vital signs and assisting with ADLs in a fast-paced hospital unit.

The role requires a high school diploma, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinical exposure and BLS; phlebotomy experience is preferred. We offer comprehensive benefits and a strong equal opportunity environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with one clinical semester completed.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic nursing care activities as delegated by an RN.
• Monitor vital signs and blood glucose; record intake/output.
• Assist with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Prioritize unit tasks and adapt to changes with the nurse lead.
• Serve as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answer calls politely and communicate with staff and families.
• Assist with census and admission/discharge tracking as needed.
