WVU Medicine in Fairmont, WV seeks a patient care assistant to provide nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will support licensed medical staff and help ensure high-quality patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include observing patients, recording vital signs, assisting with admissions and transfers, preparing patients for exams, and maintaining a clean, infection-controlled environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Observes and reports patient concerns or changes to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs and assists with personal hygiene and comfort measures.
• Assists in specimen collection and other tasks for assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment to help prevent infections and protect patients, visitors and staff.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates nutrition-related concerns to the RN.
• Supports department administration and answers patient call bells.
