Job summary

Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support bedside care in the Pediatric Medicine Unit. You will execute direct patient care tasks under the direction of a Registered Nurse, with a focus on safety, comfort, and accurate documentation.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of clinical experience, or completion of an intern program. CNA/MA or EMT credentials are preferred, and BLS is required or provided.

Join our 41-bed Pediatric Medicine Unit, caring for patients from infancy through age 21 with a wide range of medical diagnoses and select surgical cases. The team provides specialized care for conditions such as cystic fibrosis, diabetes, eating disorders, asthma, short gut, failure to thrive, and inflammatory bowel disease, among others. The unit is proud to have received the Platinum-Level Patient Family Centered Care Award—the first of its kind within the Johns Hopkins Health System.

Position Summary:

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs direct patient care tasks under the direction of the Registered Nurse and performs various tasks as competency documentation designates. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange relevant information. Communication with external contacts involves providing or giving factual information

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
• One year of clinical experience is required or successful completion of the intern program

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, Medical Assistant (MA) certification, or one of the following:
• A nursing student or LPN who has completed fundamental nursing skills coursework
• An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
• BLS certification provided by AHA

Salary Range: Minimum 17.37/hour - Maximum 26.91/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
