Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to support nursing staff in a high-demand hospital setting. The role involves monitoring patients, assisting with daily activities, and performing routine clinical tasks under supervision.

This position requires strong communication, basic life support, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekend shifts. A signing bonus may be available; details provided during interview.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Demonstrated competency in Patient Care Technician I level; 800 hours and 6 months PCT experience or equivalent inpatient/outpatient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to RN about patient observations and changes.
• Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in daily living activities and patient mobility.
• Perform vital signs, weigh/measure patients, and collect specimens for lab transport.
• Assist in treatments/procedures with equipment and supplies as needed.
• Ensure patient safety and proper use of restraints per policy when required.
