Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Marlborough, MA seeks a Patient Care Technician I to support nursing teams in delivering compassionate patient care. Under supervision of a licensed clinician, you will assist with daily living activities, monitor patients, and help with treatments and procedures as needed.

The role involves vital signs, specimen handling, EKGs, and ensuring safety, with opportunities for growth and a signing bonus eligibility. Exempt status is Non-Exempt and shift is Evening, 8 Hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Demonstrated ability to stay calm under stress or in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Communicate observations to the RN regarding patient changes.
• Provide constant observation for high-risk patients.
• Help maintain a safe, de-escalated environment when needed.
• Assist patients with daily living activities such as hygiene and meals.
• Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients safely.
• Record vital signs and patient weights/heights.
• Perform EKGs, point-of-care tests, and specimen handling for lab.
• Support treatments by preparing equipment and assisting procedures.
• Monitor intake/output and ostomy care as directed.
• Maintain respectful, culturally appropriate communication with patients and staff.
