Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician/Caregiver to provide hands-on patient support in a hospital setting. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor patients, document vitals, and help with treatments under RN supervision.

The role emphasizes safety, respectful communication, and teamwork in a busy clinical unit. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, Basic Life Support within 30 days, and solid English communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school education or GED.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN about patient status changes.
• Offer constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned.
• Assist with daily living activities and mobility using proper safety techniques.
• Record vital signs, weights, heights, and related measurements.
• Support treatments by preparing equipment and assisting the RN/PRN as directed.
• Maintain a safe, respectful environment and comply with policies.
