Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing studies/tests as assigned. Schedule features 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Mandatory Reporter training within three months of hire.
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certified within six weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Responds to patient calls and anticipates needs while ensuring safety and comfort.
• Records patient information in health records per policy.
• Performs bedside glucose testing and measures vital signs.
• Sets up equipment and rooms for procedures and assists with admissions/transfers.
