Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Patient Care Technician to deliver direct, age-appropriate care under the supervision of RNs and licensed practitioners. You will support the care plan, monitor patient conditions, and help maintain a safe care environment on your unit.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and a CNA is preferred. Certification in AHA BLS HCP or equivalent is required or preferred depending on the position.

Qualifications

• Required Education: High School Degree or equivalent.
• Preferred Education: Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Licensure/Certification Required: AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
• Minimum Qualifications: Certification/Completion of one of the listed credentials (CNA, Medical Assistant, EMT, Military Corpsman/Medic, Nursing Aide Training Program) OR foundations/clinical nursing rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and direct care, adjusting for age on the unit.
• Monitor patients and provide updates to the care team.
• Deliver care per nursing/medical plans and hospital policy.
• Maintain a safe, clean, stocked environment for patient care.
• Record patient information (vital signs, intake/output, etc.) and report changes.
