Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN seeks a compassionate Nurse Aide for day shift, full-time duties in General Surgery. The role focuses on obtaining vitals, charting patient data, and supporting safe patient care, including basic ADL assistance and phlebotomy when trained.

Required BLS within 30 days; Nurse Aide preferred. Education may be substituted with relevant experience or licensure, per policy. Competitive benefits accompany a supportive team environment.

• BLS within 1 month of hire; AHA or ARC accepted.
• Nurse Aide preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent or 1 year of job-specific experience.
• Licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records vital signs, charting patient data and reporting abnormal findings.
• Monitors and documents fluid intake and output to support safe patient care.
• Performs blood draws as trained, following phlebotomy techniques and safety protocols.
• Provides direct patient care, including rounding with patients and assisting with activities of daily living.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• - BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• - Nurse Aide preferred.

Education:

• - High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• - Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
