Job summary

Ascension is recruiting for a Nurse Aide at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI. You will provide essential personal care, document patient information, and communicate changes to the nursing team in a fast-paced Stepdown unit.

The role requires a Wisconsin Nurse Aide credential, BLS certification within 30 days, and a High School diploma or equivalent. Full-time day shifts include 12-hour rotations with weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire.
• Nurse Aide credential from Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver essential personal care to promote patient comfort, mobility and independence.
• Communicate critical changes in patient status swiftly to nursing staff.
• Document all patient care activities, vital signs and observations thoroughly.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked and safe patient environment and functioning equipment.

• Location: Appleton, WI
• Facility: St. Elizabeth Hospital
• Department: Stepdown
• Schedule: Full-time days | three 12-hour shifts per week 645am - 715pm | weekend and holiday rotation

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver essential and dignified personal care, actively promoting patient comfort, mobility, and independence in daily living activities.
• Communicate critical changes in patient physical, mental, or emotional status swiftly and accurately to the nursing staff, ensuring rapid response and timely clinical intervention.
• Document all patient care activities, vital signs, and clinical observations thoroughly and accurately, ensuring high-quality, compliant health records for continuity of care.
• Maintain a safe and healing environment by proactively ensuring patient rooms are clean, orderly, and well-stocked, and that essential medical equipment is prepared and functioning.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Nurse Aide credentialed from the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Certified Nursing Assistant credentialed from the state of Wisconsin, and in Nurse Aide Registry with eligibility to work in a hospital setting obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Additional certs may be required by specific job locations.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
