Job Summary

The Patient Care Specialist position at Georgia Southern University Health Services supports student health and well‑being through care coordination, patient navigation, and clinical and administrative support.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient intake activities, appointment scheduling, collection and management of medical records, and referrals to promote timely access to care and continuity of care.
  • Assist with insurance verification, prior authorizations, and other administrative processes that facilitate patient care.
  • Connect patients with appropriate campus and community resources based on identified needs.
  • Support providers and clinical staff by facilitating patient communication and ensuring necessary documentation is available for patient care.
  • Document patient interactions and care coordination activities accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations and institutional policies.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
Required Experience
  • One (1) year experience working in healthcare and/or community resource navigation.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience using an electronic health records system.
  • Experience providing care management services.
Proposed Salary

$19.15 - $20.00 per hour

Non‑exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

  • Ability to manage a caseload of clients.
