Job summary

Akumin is seeking a part-time Patient Coordinator at its Palm Beach Gardens facility to deliver exceptional patient care and support. The role involves greeting patients, registering them in systems, answering calls, collecting payments, and verifying insurance, with duties expanding to pre/post-procedure instructions and HIPAA-compliant documentation.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification required prior to hire.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Ability to work at multiple locations.
• Strong customer service and organizational skills.
• COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
• Background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Perform patient registration in various systems.
• Answer all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room and assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• May provide preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area; order supplies as needed.
• Ensure accuracy of patient records and schedule appointments; verify insurance and authorization.
• Assist clinical staff with documentation and image delivery; adhere to HIPAA regulations.
