Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Preferred experience in hospital, medical or insurance office setting.
• Excellent customer service skills are essential.
• Ability to organize work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
• Strong listening, problem solving, decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work across multiple software applications and EHR systems.
• Strong English verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare system including insurances (Medicare/Medicaid).
• HIPAA confidentiality must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to patients.
• Facilitate transfer of care between primary care providers and specialists.
• Collaborate with clinics to coordinate resources while considering physician preferences and patient needs.
• Track and coordinate referrals.
• Use Epic to collect patient information and support referrals.
• Provide information to physicians regarding patient information and communication needs.
• Schedule patient appointments with primary care providers.
• Gather demographic and insurance information and verify eligibility.
• Assist patients with barriers to healthcare access, including interpreters and transportation information.
• Serve as system navigator and point of contact for patients and families.
• Work primarily over the phone in a non-clinic setting.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
