Cantex Continuing Care Network in Texas is seeking a Cook/Assistant Chef to ensure patient meals are prepared to approved menus, served on time, and plated attractively in a sanitized healthcare kitchen. You will follow local, state, and federal guidelines, train nutrition staff as needed, monitor temperatures, and help manage supplies while maintaining portion control and food safety.

This role requires a current state Food Manager Certificate and experience in long-term care or healthcare food

Qualifications

• Current state Food Manager Certificate.
• Experience in quality food preparation and production in long-term care or healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsabilités

• Prepares or directs preparation of food items on assigned/scheduled menus.
• Adheres to food production and usage schedules and avoids waste.
• Labels, dates, and stores food items/leftovers after use.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, work, and storage areas.
• Prepares special items, meals, and snacks as instructed by Nutrition Services Director/Chef.
• Instructs and supervises staff as needed and may train new Nutrition Services staff.
• Ensures trays are attractively prepared with correct flavor and temperature.
• Assists in standardization of recipes and maintains portion control.
• Checks and records temperatures of food, refrigerators, freezers, and dispensers.
• Monitors and reports shortages or discrepancies in supplies.
