Job summary

Cantex Continuing Care Network in Port Arthur, TX is seeking a Cook/Assistant Chef to prepare patient meals according to approved menus and serve them in a timely, sanitary setting. You will label, date, and store items, maintain kitchen safety, and assist in inventory and training as needed.

Experience in quality food preparation in long-term care or healthcare is preferred; a current state Food Manager Certificate is required.

Qualifications

• Current state Food Manager Certificate.
• Experience in quality food preparation and production in either long-term care or healthcare setting is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or directs preparation of food items on assigned/scheduled menus.
• Adheres to food production and usage schedules and avoids waste.
• Appropriately and immediately labels, dates, and stores food items/leftovers after use.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment and utensils, all work, and storage areas by cleaning immediately after use.
• Prepares or directs preparation of special items, meals, and snacks.
• Prepares special snacks and supplements as instructed by Nutrition Services Director/Chef and identifies with patient name, room number, date, and time.
• Identifies and corrects safety hazards in food service areas.
