Job summary

Cantex Continuing Care Network in Denison, Texas is seeking a Cook/Assistant Chef to prepare patient meals according to approved menus, ensuring timely service and strict sanitation.

You will label, store, and monitor temperatures, assist in training staff, and help maintain stock while following state and federal guidelines for healthcare food service.

An active Food Manager Certificate and experience in healthcare food service are preferred; commitment to safety and quality is a priority.

Qualifications

• Current state Food Manager Certificate.
• Experience in quality food preparation and production in either long-term care or healthcare setting is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or directs preparation of food items on assigned/scheduled menus.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment and utensils, all work, and storage areas by cleaning immediately after use.
• Log and records temperatures of food, refrigerators, freezers, and dispensers as appropriate.
• Assists in training, orientation and supervision of Nutrition Services staff when assigned as a PIE.
• Ensure trays are served attractively with correct flavor and temperature.
