Job summary

Compass Health Center in Northbrook, IL is seeking a Patient Advocate to help patients and families navigate the administrative side of starting treatment. You’ll coordinate insurance questions, program costs, and paperwork to ensure a smooth transition into care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 2–3 years experience in a healthcare/clinical setting.
• Insurance knowledge in healthcare preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professionalism and professional image.
• Strong organization and planning skills; detail oriented.
• Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
• Computer proficiency and ability to learn new software.
• Conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills.
• Flexible Schedule – Able to work assigned schedule.

Responsibilities

• Reviews the accuracy of demographics, insurance, completion of forms, organizational data to be entered in the chart in a timely manner.
• Conduct New Patient Orientation/Administrative Intake for accurate intake paperwork collection.
• Point of contact for billing information for Urinary Drug Screening (UDS) coordination and Genetic Testing coordination.
• Follows up with financially responsible party who is not present at intake to review program cost and collects necessary documents for patient to start recommended program.
• Follows up with patient’s parents if joint medical decision‑making consent is needed and obtains necessary documents for patient to start recommended program.
• Primary contact for weekend and after‑hours patient web inquiries.
• Maintain patient charts according to confidentiality standards and policy.
• Performs clerical duties to ensure efficient operations of the center to include computers, office equipment, copiers, fax, scanner, postage equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
