Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum NY/NJ division in West Islip, NY, is seeking a friendly Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our care delivery team. You will support patient check-in, registration, insurance verification, and scheduling, while aligning with Lean processes to improve service delivery.

This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work with diverse care teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience.
• 1+ years of computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work schedule as listed in the posting and travel to local offices as needed.
• Ability to be cross trained as a medical assistant.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and assist with sign-in/registration.
• Enter demographic and insurance data into Epic.
• Verify insurance eligibility/benefits and collect co-pays.
• Answer calls and direct messages to the care team.
• Coordinate follow-up care and referrals; obtain authorizations.
