Highmark Health’s Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under supervision. You will room patients, obtain vitals, and document in the EHR while assisting with screenings and follow-up communications.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to AHN protocols, and accurate medication reconciliation. CPR and background clearances may be required. Eligible for certification within 120 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Certification: Employees must obtain certification within 120 days of hire from accepted programs (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA).
• Preferred Associate's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care under supervision using a team-based approach.
• Prepares and rooms patients according to workflow.
• Obtains vital signs and documents medical history and tobacco/medication screening.
• Assists with depression screening and annual wellness visits.
• Reviews medication lists in the EHR and updates records.
• Pends orders for screenings, prescriptions, refills, or other needs per AHN protocols.
• Performs back office testing and assists with examinations and procedures.
• May act as a scribe with training; follows up with patients as directed.
• Maintains room readiness, inventory, and instrument sterilization.
