Optum in West Islip, NY is seeking an Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our care delivery team. The role supports patient registration, insurance verification and coordination of follow-up care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, collecting demographics, scheduling referrals, and assisting with medical assisting duties as needed. The position offers full-time hours, weekday schedule, and opportunities to grow within a clinician-led organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 1+ years of computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience.
• Ability to travel to Nassau/Suffolk regions as business requires.
• Ability to be cross trained as a medical assistant.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, family members and guests with a friendly smile.
• Assists patients with signing in and completing registration.
• Enters and scans patient’s demographic and insurance information into Epic.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefit information; informs patients of insurance benefits.
• Collects co-payments and patient balances.
• Answers incoming phone calls in a courteous and prompt manner; directs calls and takes messages.
• Work cohesively with fellow employees to achieve team goals.
• Provide effective communication to patient/family team members and other healthcare professionals as evidenced by documentation.
• Assist physician and clinical staff by coordinating follow up care for patients; schedules referral appointments and obtains authorization for diagnostic testing.
• Assists with other tasks as assigned.
