Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO seeks a Patient Care Associate (PCA) to support the Surgical department during 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700). Role requires teamwork, patient assistance, and the ability to perform basic clinical and non-clinical tasks.

Applicants may have PCA/CNA background or be nursing students; Mercy provides a 175-hour training program to meet state requirements, with BLS within one month and competencies within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred for PRN status, but none required; Mercy offers 175-hour training within 90 days if no prior experience.
• Preferred experience as PCA, CNA, or active nursing student.
• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire; PCA competencies within 3 months.

Position Details

Patient Care Associate - PCA

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Surgical

Status: PRN

Shift: 12 hour Nights (1830-0700)

Qualifications

• Experience: Experience Preferred for PRN status, however none required for PCA role. If no previous experience, will be considered for PCA role in which Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.
• Preferred Experience: PCA, CNA, or active nursing student.
• Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC. or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum or age 18 and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.
• Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire
• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements:
• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
