Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) to join the Surgical department. Under the direction of the RN or LPN, you will assist in individualized patient care to promote wellness and support the care team.

This PRN role requires BLS within one month, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months, and may include a 175-hour training program during orientation. Prior experience as PCA/CNA or nursing student is preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred for PRN status, however none required for PCA.
• Preferred experience as PCA, CNA, or active nursing student.
• BLS certification required within one month of hire.
• PCA competencies must be completed within 3 months of hire.

Position Details

Patient Care Associate - PCA

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Surgical

Status: PRN

Shift: 12 hour Nights (1830-0700)

• Experience: Experience Preferred for PRN status, however none required for PCA role. If no previous experience, will be considered for PCA role in which Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.
• Preferred Experience: PCA, CNA, or active nursing student.
• Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC. or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum or age 18 and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.
• Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire
• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements:
• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
