Job summary

Yale New Haven Health Services Corp. seeks an Medical Assistant/Unlicensed Assistive Person to support patient-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

You will engage with patients and families, perform rooming, vitals, specimen collection and assist with procedures while coordinating with the care team. Responsibilities include documenting visits in EPIC, maintaining safety standards, and contributing to a high-quality patient experience at our Connecticut facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; postsecondary medical assisting program preferred.
• Experience: 12–18 months in outpatient care preferred for Medical Assistant or Patient Care role.
• Licensure: preferred medical assisting credential recognized by CT health authorities.
• Demonstrates effective communication with patients, families and colleagues; adaptable to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care under RN supervision, preparing patients for visits and assisting with procedures.
• Communicate effectively with diverse patients and healthcare team to enhance experience and outcomes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams; raise concerns when needed and support team learning.
• Support quality and safety through proper use of equipment and adherence to procedures.
• Utilize information systems to document care and support clinical decisions.
• Demonstrate accountability for personal practice and ongoing professional development.
• Perform rooming processes, vital signs, specimen collection, and other basic clinical tasks as assigned.
• Complete clerical tasks and manage patient records in EPIC per scope of practice.
