Heritage Valley Health System has an opening in the Observation Unit for a full-time role with night shifts (12- and 8-hour shifts) and weekends/holidays as required. The position involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a professional nurse, assisting with activities of daily living, and performing technical tasks such as EKGs and basic catheter care.
A $3,000 sign-on/retention bonus may be eligible.
Observation Unit
Full-Time. Nights, 12 and 8 hour shifts with weekends and holidays as required
Provides direct patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs under the direction of the Professional Nurse. Works closely with patients to provide physical assistance with daily living tasks, such as dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting, vital signs, catheter care, answering call lights, assisting with ambulation, turning, and ensuring patient safety. Technical skills may include obtaining 12 lead EKG, setting up respiratory equipment, glucometer monitoring, bladder catheterization and transcribing orders, when indicated.
High school graduate or equivalent. Excellent bedside manner and customer service & computer skills. Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in Human Resources policy HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.
Successful completion of a nursing assistant program (with proof of completion). Nursing student after successful completion of their first quarter/semester of nursing school. Previous nursing assistant experience, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant). BCLS certification.
