Qualifications

• Requires current BLS certification through the AHA or attainment at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Requires ability to maintain concentration under interruptions and noise.
• Requires ability to set priorities and manage high workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities of daily living support for designated patients.
• Assist with mobility and transfers as directed by the RN.
• Maintain continuous observation including suicide prevention.
• Keep patient surroundings clean and orderly.
• Apply infection control principles to daily tasks.
• Read and perform basic math as part of patient care activities.
